September Meet Up!
Thursday, September 16, 2021
At Third Branch Horse Logging
652 Stony Brook Road
Northfield, VT 05663
Join us for this very different kind of meet-up beginning with new Council member, Third Branch Horse Logging, co-owned by Brad Johnson, Derek O’Toole, and John Plowden.
This Meet-up will start with a walk in the woods to look at low-impact logging completed on Brad’s property using horses. From the woods, you’ll check out the Third Branch portable mill that has recently been put into operation, producing lumber and slab wood. Here’s an opportunity to be up close and personal with well-managed forests that sustain a source of raw materials for the value-added sector.
But that’s not all … from Third Branch, we’re heading to Vermont Technical College where we’ll meet up with manufacturing faculty and directors to talk about VTC’s CNC Milling machine and other equipment. Then we will enjoy open discussion on how VTC could better train workers for value-added wood products industry.
After the tour, we’ll have time to network and chat with each other. We’ll bring food. You bring the libations of your choice.
We are really focusing on issues that are important to our member businesses, so we hope you’ll make the time to join us. We are better and stronger with your participation. And your business benefits from the folks you meet and connections you make at these events.
